Find Out More About Scotty Cam's Customised Shed
If you've been watching The Block: Tree Change on Channel 9, you might have heard about the Stratco Gable Roof Shed that will feature in each of the 6 houses.
Set in Gisborne South in Victoria’s beautiful Macedon Ranges, this year's 5 couples will each take on 10 acres of prime Aussie heartland so a customised Stratco Shed is the perfect complement to these country retreats.
This year, for the first time, in addition to sheds, Stratco will be supplying The Block houses with Stratco Storage Solutions, Patios and Decking.
In Week 1 of The Block, we saw Scotty Cam and couple Rachel & Andy meet with our Stratco Shed Expert to discuss their shed plans for their respective outdoor areas.
Scotty Cam’s Shed sketch was transformed by Stratco designers and engineers into a heavily customised high-pitched gable shed. So, what does Scotty’s Custom Shed include?
Scotty’s massive custom designed Stratco Gable Roof Shed is 24m by 8m featuring a 40-degree pitch roof, nail strip Stratco Hiland Tray Cladding in COLORBOND® steel, Stratco Half Round Gutters and a brick dado wall.
Along with customising the physical appearance of the shed, to accommodate Scotty's requirements, we engineered it to accommodate glass windows and doors given requirements for additional rigidity to avoid glass panels cracking. As you've already seen in the show, things can get pretty wild and windy in Gisborne, so our engineers also designed the Stratco Shed to withstand Region A Category 2 winds, meeting local certification requirements.
Let us break it down for you…
Stratco Gable Shed
Stratco Garages and Outdoor Sheds provide attractive, high-quality storage and protection options for all sorts of properties including rural properties like those seen on the show. The standard pitch of a Stratco Domestic Gable Roof Shed is 15 degrees and Stratco Large Span Sheds is 10 degrees, but in keeping with The Block aesthetic, Scotty's Shed has a steep 40-degree roof pitch.
Stratco Hiland Tray(TM) Cladding
Stratco Hiland Tray(TM) is a modern tray standing seam roofing and walling profile coming in a vast range of options and colours. Scotty chose the nail strip option with concealed fasteners providing a clean finish with smooth lines in the colour Woodland Grey (Stratco equivalent colour - Slate Grey) with COLORBOND® steel.

Half Round Gutter
Scotty chose the Stratco Half Round Gutter for the appealing shape and wide 150mm diameter making it ideal for water harvesting with the heavy rainfall in the Macedon Ranges. The Half Round Gutter is also great at self-cleaning which is a handy bonus.
Brick Dado Wall
Another customised element that Scotty loved was adding a Brick Dado Wall to the entire base of the Stratco Shed. The term 'dado' refers to a wall where the lower section uses a different material to the top section... in this case, the lower wall is made out of bricks supplied by our friends at PGH Bricks and Pavers(TM) and the top of the wall uses Stratco Hiland Tray(TM) cladding.
